Power Protection Recommendations

The #1 reason why Elfiq Link Balancers stop operating normally is power surges coming from an array of sources. Elfiq highly recommends that customers and partners deploy appropriate measures to prevent units from being damaged from such incidents. Power surges are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty as they are not manufacturing defects. Here are some recommendations to protect your equipment:

  1. Use uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and/or power protection bars from a trust-worthy manufacturer with a warranty attached to the device in case the protection device does not work as expected.

  2. Use network-based power surge protectors. A common source of power issues is the Internet-facing equipment, which can conduct surges. Ethernet-based power protection is highly recommended on all carrier link routers/modems. A recommended model is from APC. Similar power protection devices are also available for coaxial connections (cable modems).

  3. Upgrade your maintenance plan to Elfiq's Gold plan, which includes a replacement unit in case of electrical power surge.
