Link Balancers are unique devices which can proactively reduce costs in multiple ways:

  1. Downtime prevention: while Internet and Internet based services are operational even when an ISP link is temporarily unavailable, the organization operates normally ensuring maximum productivity.
     
  2. Loss of business: when online services are not able to process orders, customers can purchase from another supplier.  Link Balancers remove this issue when ISPs are unavailable through diversification and the removal of points of failure.
     
  3. Increased performance: more ISP links mean more available bandwidth to perform the requested tasks, therefore eliminating saturation and bottlenecks.
     
  4. Cost reduction: using low-cost ISPs can not only enhance the over Internet experience and uptime, but also reduce overall costs.  Here is an example commonly used at Elfiq customer sites:
    • Existing bandwidth configuration: 2X T1 circuits at $600/month providing 3.088 Mbps symmetrical
    • Proposed bandwidth:
      • 2X cable modems at 10Mbps/1Mbps - $100/month
      • 1X DSL circuit at 6Mbps/1Mbps - $80/month
      • Total throughput: 26Mbps/ 3Mbps (compared to 3Mbps/3Mbps)
      • Monthly savings: $600/month or $7200/yearly
