The Link Balancer licence key disappeared after deleting the configuration.

The flashrm default.cfg command restores the unit to factory defaults and also deletes the licence key. You must re-enter it with the licence command in the system module.

I just rebooted the Link LB and lost all my configuration changes.

The running configuration was most likely not saved with the ram2flash command before the reboot. All changes in the Link LB are done in RAM, so if they are not saved to the flash memory of the unit, they will be lost after a loss of power or a reboot. Therefore, you need to make sure to save any changes with the ram2flash command as soon as they have been validated.  If using version 3.3.0 and higher, the single command saveall can be used to save all configuration in each module.

I have powered down my Link LB-3000 and can't seem to get it back on, even after switching the power supply off and on.

Contrary to the other models, the Link LB-3000 has two power switches. The rightmost is to power on the power supply, which needs to be on for your Link LB to boot. The second switch to the left of the power supply is the one that needs to be pressed to power on your unit, once the power supply power switch has been turned on.

I pressed the soft reset button but my Link LB-3000 doesn't seem to get back on.

To prevent an accidental reboot of your unit, this button must be pressed for 4 seconds.

I need to test and implement alarms based on the SMTP messaging of the Elfiq Link LB or the Link LB is live in production and I don't want to alter connectivity in order to test the SMTP alert service.

Go into the SYST module and you can use a special command called log event to simulate triggered messages.

Can I find a backup of my previous FLASH configuration?

With version 3.1.70 and higher, the LinkLB automatically creates a flash configuration backup when a ram2flash (also saveall, by extension) or eosupdate command is issued. Files are named before_eosupdate.cfg and before_ram2flash.cfg. They can be retrieved with the flash2ram command.

Can I save a backup of my FLASH configuration?

Yes, the ram2flash command can have a backup filename in parameter. The configuration can later be retrieved with the flash2ram command.

Is there a firmware update for the Daylight Saving Time (DST) modification ?

Elfiq Link Load Balancer time/date operation is based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT/Zulu). It supports to synchronize time with a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. The Elfiq Link LB does support the automatic time change for the Daylight Saving Time (DST) or summer time with firmware version 3.4.1 and higher. It is necessary to configure the proper timezone information in the Link LB.

About the “Etc” area.

It is possible to configure the time zone in a Link LB to point to the “Etc” area. The special area of Etc is used for some administrative zones, particularly for "Etc/UTC" which represents Coordinated Universal Time. In order to conform with the POSIX style, those zones beginning with "Etc/GMT" have their sign reversed from what most people expect. In this style, zones west of GMT have a positive sign and those east have a negative sign. As such, in a Link LB, you can set an Etc time zone area such as Etc/GMT+5. However, the effect of that is somewhat unexpected. The clock is set back five hours instead of being set ahead five hours. This is normal.

I am getting a transfer failed error when I try to update my Link LB with a SCP transfer.
Starting with EOS 3.4, we have updated some key components in the file transfer code for the firmware updates. This means that some legacy SSH servers (prior to 2000) can no longer be used to transfer the firmware image. You can either update the server's SSH version or use one of the other provided methods to transfer the firmware image (web interface, usb, ftp, etc).
