Intelligent DNS module (IDNS)

Elfiq Link Balancers add intelligence to the DNS service to handle DNS requests for incoming link load balancing for optimized performances and 100% availability.

Elfiq IDNS module is a DNS request interceptor. It monitors UDP port 53 and will only intercep DNS requests it is authorized to process for incoming load balancing. By design, this is not a full DNS service. This approach has the advantage that you do not have to migrate your DNS domains to support a multi-homed network and greatly reduces installation time and planification.

Each IDNS ressource record can have it's own incoming balancing parameters and algorithm.

Elfiq IDNS module supports persistency to ensure application stickyness.

The Intelligent DNS module is available on all Elfiq Link Balancers. It is also supported with the GeoLink option for geographic link load balancing.
